Del Mar & Solana Beach

Del Mar and Solana Beach are both charming coastal communities located just north of San Diego and 25 minutes from the airport. In addition to its convenient proximity to many San Diego attractions, this area has a lot to offer its visitors. Locals are drawn to the two miles of clean, quiet beach, ideal for surfing, body boarding, or just relaxing with the family. Or take a stroll to the many antique and furniture shops, art galleries, restaurants, and the Del Mar Fairgrounds.

Mission Bay

The West Coast's largest aquatic park covers over 4,000 acres and offers a wide range of recreational activities. Swimmers and sunlovers are drawn to the excellent surf conditions and soft sand Mission Bays beaches offer. Mission Bay offers boat docks and launches, sailboat and motor rentals, bike/walk paths, basketball courts, and playgrounds for children. Mission Bay is also the home to Sea World and Belmont Park.

Weather

San Diego has the most comfortable climate in the world --mild and sunny, with low humidity all year. Rain, which averages only 10 inches annually, falls mostly between November to April. Temperature variations are slight, generally 70 degrees in the day plus or minus 10 degrees. Nights generally drop 15 to 20 degrees below daytime highs.

 

 

Transportation

When you do decide to venture out of San Diego County, you might choose to take advantage of the award winning Transit Centers located downtown or Solana Beach. Daily Amtrak and Coaster train service to Los Angeles and Orange counties and connects with trolley service to Mexico.

Beaches

San Diego's 70 miles of beaches are like a family of diverse people; each has its own distinct personality. Some are havens for surfers and divers; others are remote getaways; and many are perfect for most any activity. Check out the Beach and Surf Report links for more information.

Golf

San Diego has become the destination for many golfers. The area hosts two major PGA Tournaments annually, and boasts more than 50 courses. Check out the San Diego Golf Guide for more information on the many public, semi-private, and executive courses county-wide.

Sports

San Diego is home to 2 professional sports team: Padres baseball and Chargers football.
